Nine Candidates to Participate in 2027 Tulip Queen's Announcement Party October 13, 2026

October 13, 2026

PELLA, IOWA — Pella Historical Museums & Tulip Time is pleased to announce that nine young women
have accepted nominations for the 2027 Tulip Court. All nine candidates will advance directly to the
Tulip Queen's Announcement Party, scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at 7:00pm in the Pella High
School Auditorium.
Traditionally, the Tulip Court selection process begins with a community voting period to narrow the
field of nominees to 12 candidates. With nine candidates accepting nominations this year, the
community voting stage will be omitted, allowing all nine young women to participate in the
Announcement Party.
Prior to the public portion of the event, candidates will participate in individual interviews with a panel
of more than 30 judges. During the evening's program, each candidate will deliver a three-minute
presentation highlighting her personality, interests, and talents, followed by questions about herself and
her involvement with Tulip Time.
The event will conclude with the announcement of the 2027 Tulip Queen and Court, who will serve as
ambassadors for Pella and its Dutch heritage in the months leading up to Tulip Time.
Tickets for the Tulip Queen's Announcement Party will go on sale November 1.
The nine candidates are:
• Lucy Carlson, daughter of Kelly & Kevin Carlson
• Amelia Carlstone, daughter of Amanda & Spencer Carlstone
• Bella De Haan, daughter of Lindsey & Derek De Haan
• Ella Hodgell, daughter of Karla & Dale Hodgell
• Emmilyn Riddick, daughter of Jaclyn Stanley
• Alice Roose, daughter of Lisa & Jameson Roose
